Dear students,
Most South African universities have announced that, as a temporary measure, they will migrate to online learning from on or about Monday, 20 April 2020, to minimise any negative impact on the academic year due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in South Africa, and around the world.
South Point understands that, for students who are currently at home, there might be a challenge to study online without access to some of the required resources. While we empathise with the fact that not all students were able leave with all their required study materials, we also still need to highlight that, per Government regulations, we are still very much in a declared disaster state of national lockdown, which – among other sacrifices – also limits freedom of movement.
Accordingly:
Students will not be allowed to return to SouthPoint during the lockdown.
SouthPoint will not permit any access to take resources from any rooms or apartments during the national lockdown.
SouthPoint’s buildings – and the company itself – remain closed, as per Government regulations, so it will not be possible to access any buildings.
We are in constant communication with the educational institutions to find ways to assist, where possible, to enable students to continue with their studies, while remaining safe during the national lockdown – and beyond.
Government has communicated that there will be a gradual and systematic lifting of the national lockdown and so, like you, we await a return to some semblance of normality. We look forward to welcoming students back – and thank you for your cooperation to help make South Africa safer for everyone.
