Consolidation Of Select Southpoint Residences For The 2021 Academic Year

Consolidation Of Select Southpoint Residences For The 2021 Academic Year

Statements  |  May 9th 21

Dear Tenant,

As we continue to navigate a period that’s filled with so much uncertainty, it’s important for us to ensure the continuous and efficient running of your residences, providing you with the best-possible environment and service, as well as transparent communication.

We want to emphasise that the health, safety and comfort of our tenants and employees will always remain our top priority, but we’ve also had to make some tough decisions around operations. In short, our residents are spread across too many buildings as the result of non-contact learning driven by the Covid-19 pandemic, making it very difficult to effectively manage our cleaning, security and facilities services.

Looking ahead, we need to consolidate our partially-full residences so as to streamline our operations. This means we will need to temporarily close some residences for the balance of 2021 academic year, with students moving to other SouthPoint residences. Importantly, the consolidation will also enable us to do much-needed repairs and maintenance in the empty buildings ahead of the 2022 academic year without disrupting any residents. We have forward-planned to ensure there is minimal effort and disruption (e.g. movers will assist tenants) and that there will be no financial impact on those students affected.

The way forward:

  1. We will be in touch throughout the week to further communicate on the moving process and timelines – as to who will need to move, to where and how.

  2. We will also share the communications channels to facilitate interaction between the SouthPoint team and impacted students.

  3. We are developing an FAQs platform to address all potential questions and concerns.

It’s important to note that this was a difficult decision that was not taken lightly. We look forward to your cooperation.

Sincerely,

SouthPoint
