Pretoria: Important End-Of-Year Southpoint Vacate Updates For The 2020 Academic Year

Please note this communication is only applicable to Pretoria tenants.

Dear tenant,

As we approach the end of what has been a year filled with so much uncertainty, it’s important for us to clearly communicate how the Vacate 2020 process will work this year at SouthPoint for the Pretoria region.

The following vacate dates apply for the various institutions:

1. Sefako Makgatho University

2. University of Pretoria

3. Tshwane University of Technology

4. Private Colleges and all other Institutions

Sefako Makgatho University

We have been informed by the institution, the last day for academic activities is 23 December 2020 and academic activities will resume 4 January 2021. We anticipate majority of the student population will remain in the building through the December holidays. Please be advised whether you are remaining in the building during the December holidays or going home, you will be able to leave your belongings in your room.

The office will be closed from 23 December 2020, 17:00. If you need to vacate please do so during office hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 17:00. Limited services will be available over the Christmas holidays but we will ensure all emergency issues are attended to timeously. The office will open on 4 January 2021 as per the university schedule.

If you do leave for home during the recess period, upon your return please complete this COVID questionnaire:

University of Pretoria

We have been informed by the institution, the last day for academic activities is 12 December 2020 and academic year commences 4 January 2021. All UP students will be expected to have vacated their rooms by 14 December 2020.

Kindly ensure you complete the vacate process at the office during office hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 17:00. Please ensure all your belongings have been removed from your room.

The South Point office will open on 4 January 8:00am.

Tshwane University of Technology

We have been informed by the institution, the last day for academic activities is 18 December 2020 and academic year commences 4 January 2021. All TUT students will be expected to have vacated their rooms by 20 December 2020. You will be able to leave your belongings in your room as arrangement with the institution.

Kindly ensure you complete the vacate process at the office during office hours Monday – Friday 8:00 – 17:00 and note the office will be closed from 20 December 2020. Upon vacating you will complete an indemnity form where you will confirm you have not left any valuables in your room such as laptops, phones, gadgets etc.

We are also aware some TUT Nsfas students have not paid their November 2020 rental as per TUT arrangement, therefore we request students to report to the office when you return to make sure your account is up to date.

The office will open on 4 January 2021 as per the university schedule, and as TUT academic activities are commencing. Upon your return please complete this COVID questionnaire:

Private Colleges and all other Institutions

All private college students will be expected to have vacated their rooms by 14 December and you will be able to leave your belongings in your room.

The office will open on 4 January 2021, 8:00am.

Please note of the following key information around Vacate 2020:

Students whose accounts are up-to-date but have not returned to residence will need to come to SouthPoint’s offices to get their vacate note and vacate the premises.
If your account is not up to date, please contact our office to make an arrangement, then come to the office and officially vacate.
We ask all TUT and SMU students to keep their keys safe while they have returned home for the December holidays.
Please ensure your fridge is completely empty, there is no food remaining in containers, the fridge is left washed, switched off and the doors left open for ventilation.
Please ensure you do not leave food exposed and open as it will spoil and cause pests in the room
Please leave your room tidy and clean so upon your return, you walk into a presentable environment
